Philly Horizons

Horizon is a fantabulous vegan restaurant in Philadelphia. This past Friday evening, while Richie and Benoit attended Phish Concert #2, Maddy and I went for a night on the town in Philly.  I had made reservations at Horizons Restaurant at 8:15p and we had such a fabulous time, we closed the place down!

It was hands down the best vegan meal I've every had out at a restaurant.  Here in nyc, Counter in the East Village is my favorite spot for a good vegan meal out on the town.  I'll post more on Counter after my next visit, but while the quality of the food is just as good, it's tapas style food, while Horizons is more gourmet.

While I'm not a picky eater and am generally happy with one or two options on a menu, it was really really nice to be able to look at a menu and choose from all of the options!  The real problem here is that I wanted EVERYTHING!

Mad and I decided to share everything so we could taste a whole bunch of things on the menu.  We started with a pitcher of Pomegranate Sangria made with fresh squeezed organic pomegranate juice.  Uh-mazing!  It was the perfect combo of sweet and tart.  Then we shared the Roasted Corn Chowder and Vietnamese Tacos.  Both delicious and different.  For entrees we ordered the Pacific Rim Grilled Tofu with Edamame Puree and Smoked Miso and the Grilled Seitan with Yukon Mash and Horseradish Cream, YUM!  Oh and, on top of all that, we got a side of Cauliflower "Rice" with Truffle Sauce that was unreal.

Here are some pictures from our dinner.  Just looking at them makes my mouth water.  I may have to take a trip back to Philly just to eat here again!
